Do You Really Need an Annual Full Body Checkup?

7 min read·15 April 2026· Medically reviewed by Rahul Massey, BSc MLT (Medical Laboratory Technology)

Preventive testing catches problems early — often before symptoms appear. But you don't need every test every year. Here's a sensible, age-wise approach.

In your 20s–30s

A basic checkup — CBC, blood sugar, thyroid, vitamin D and B12 — is usually enough unless you have symptoms or a family history.

In your 40s

Add a lipid profile (heart), liver (LFT) and kidney (KFT) function tests, and HbA1c for diabetes screening.

50+

Continue the above yearly and discuss additional screening with your doctor based on your history.
